Upcoming Retreats 2008

Retreats have long been recognized as an opportunity to “step apart” from one’s daily life; to reflect upon one’s life and circumstances, to rest and renew, and to return home, hopefully with rejuvenation and perspective. For people experiencing potentially life-threatening illnesses, retreats can help to reduce the sense of isolation and fear that may accompany their cancer journey.

Cancer Care Resources offers retreats several times a year for people with cancer as a part of our program of services. Held at the beautiful Menucha Retreat and Conference Center in the Columbia River Gorge, retreats include an opportunity to meet others who share similar experiences as they attempt to integrate the cancer experience into their lives. The retreats include group discussions, gentle yoga and mindfulness skills, creative arts projects, and massage. In addition, there are wonderful times to gather around meals, to walk, relax, and share much laughter. 

Our retreats have included offerings for women with breast or gynecological cancers, women with any type of cancer, women with advanced cancers, couple’s retreats, and retreats for cancer care professionals, who often lack “safe places” to express their own sense of sadness and grief. They are a unique and popular part of Cancer Care Resources program offerings, and most participants report going home feeling renewed, refreshed, and with new perspectives on the cancer experience.
