Footprints Retreat/Professional Caregivers The impact of professional caregiving in cancer care can be great, both in its rewards, and in the toll it takes personally. Practitioners are often challenged to find ways to take care of themselves, while also dealing with ongoing contact with illness and loss. At times it may be difficult to continue to maintain compassion and energy, while also dealing with grief and exhaustion. The purpose of this retreat is to bring oncology professionals together for a weekend of renewal, reflection, and fun! Hosted at the beautiful Menucha Retreat Center in Corbett Oregon, there will be opportunity for considering the work we do, develop strategies for ongoing self-care, and relax and have fun. The format will be flexible enough to include time to relax and enjoy this beautiful setting.
Breast Cancer Retreat This retreat is offered as an opportunity to reflect on the cancer experience. We will explore how cancer has changed us, consider ways to create daily practices to keep our minds, bodies and spirits healthy, and to return home renewed.
Couples Retreat Research indicates that the partner of the person with cancer may experience levels of distress that are as high as the person going through treatment. Getting information and support can be an important way for both the person with cancer and his/her partner to better cope with the demands of treatment and living with the disease. The purpose of this retreat is to help couples consider how cancer affects their relationship. It will also include how to develop strategies that will enable them to deal with cancer issues, while maintaining closeness and balance in their lives. Special focus of the retreat will be to help couples discover ways to communicate about the issues that arise as a result of cancer. It will also provide practical advice on how to incorporate these strategies into their everyday lives.
Women with Cancer Retreat This retreat is about discovering and experiencing new ways of being with cancer. We will explore creating sacred space for ourselves, engaging in daily practices that keep our minds, bodies and spirits healthy; creating a personal development plan and considering how cancer has changed our lives.
